The School of Biology/Chemistry at Osnabrück University is seeking to fill the following professorship (m/f/d) as soon as possible:

Role:

The professorship is expected to complement the research activities of the Department of Biology/Chemistry, particularly within the Collaborative Research Center 1557 „Functional Plasticity Encoded by Cellular Membrane Networks“. The professorship will actively participate in the interdisciplinary Center for Cellular Nanoanalytics in Osnabrück (CellNanOs), the Research Training Group Nanomaterials @ Biomembranes, and future initiatives.

The duties of the professorship include teaching basic and advanced courses covering the entire breadth of Genetics in both German and English. In addition, the professorship will involve appropriate participation in academic self-governance.

Professional Requirements:
We are looking for an internationally visible individual with a proven track record of relevant publications and a forward-looking, independent focus in Genetics, particularly concerning Membrane Biology.

The research orientation should involve the application of modern molecular genetic research methods on cellular or organismal models, and may place an emphasis on bioinformatics, biotechnology, or biomedicine.

The candidate must have successfully acquired significant third-party funding in the relevant area of the professorship.

Furthermore, the language skills necessary to conduct courses in both German and English are required. If proficiency in these languages is not currently met, it must be acquired within three years.

Statutory Requirements:
You will hold a first degree, show a proven aptitude for teaching, have demonstrated your ability to engage independently in advanced academic research – as a rule by obtaining an outstanding PhD in natural sciences – and have a sustained publication record in research equivalent to the German Habilitation in accordance with Section 25 subsection 1 no. 4a of the Lower Saxony Higher Education Act [NHG].

The position is available on a full-time or part-time basis.
