Postdoctoral Research Associate (m/f/d)

The Department of Plant Physiology of the School of Biology/Chemistry at the University of Osnabrück is seeking to appoint a Research Associate to commence work at the earliest possible date.

This is a temporary, two-year position.

The department investigates the physiological relevance of protein half-life and stability in plants in vivo and in vitro using biochemical, genetic and molecular biological methods in model and non-model systems. One focus is on post-translational protein modifications and their influence on plant phenotypes and their response to the environment.

Your duties:

  • Work on a third-party funded project in the field of synthetic biology on the topic of bioluminescence in plants
  • Establishment of plant tissue and cell culture (non-model systems), cloning of DNA constructs (GoldenGate cloning), creation and selection of transgenic plants (non-model systems)

Requirements:

  • Completed master’s degree (M.Sc.)
  • Completed doctorate in the fields of biology, biochemistry with a focus on plant molecular biology, plant biotechnology or plant genetics with excellent marks
  • Practical experience in molecular plant sciences, molecular biology, microbiology

Additional qualifications:

  • Relevant experience in plant tissue culture and modern DNA cloning methods
  • First author publications in recognized peer-reviewed journals
