  • Oversee and lead the day-to-day delivery of lab supplies (LN2, Gas bottles, consumables, Dry Ice, solvent, chemical, Cell-lines, Media, etc...) / Oversee and lead the day-to-day operational efficiency (daily lab check: alarms, cleanliness, safety, good functioning of equipment, etc...).
  • Order and receive general research supplies and consumables.
  • Manage chemical, biological samples, equipment and consumables, shipping and receiving. Work with couriers (UPS, FedEx, DHL, etc...) on shipping / receiving packages domestically as well as internationally. Determine storage areas for incoming shipments (Chemicals, Biologicals, Lab supplies, Office supplies, etc…).
  • Handle time-sensitive material such as confidential and urgent packages.
  • Maintain Purchasing tracking system for traceability of purchases/deliveries and invoices / Maintain all logs and reporting documentation.
  • Organize and maintain biological and hazardous waste management, monitoring and disposing / Organize and maintain stock management inventory, including labeling, tracking quantities, to ensure the minimum stock and the adherence to flammable storage limits.
  • Act as the Contact Person in case of facilities/equipment issues; organize the necessary to solve the issue.
  • Provides excellent customer service and support / Establish lab procedures; create and manage lab-related documentation, and organizational processes such as annual laboratory cleanouts and calibrations.
  • Assist in physically moving incoming items to designated storage areas and supervise storage activities / Handle returns and exchanges by ensuring that reverse distribution processes are followed properly.
  • Assist in the development of efficient, standardized lab operations workflow / Assist in the establishment of service/maintenance contract with equipment suppliers.
  • Ensure maintenance/calibration of lab equipment / Maintain equipment database.
  • Ensure monthly inspection and testing of all lab safety equipment / Ensure compliance with laboratory facilities’ standard operating procedures and best practices / Regularly reviews, prioritizes, coordinates, and promptly responds to work orders and service requests.
  • Serve as backup to the Head of Basel Lab Operations & Facilities and provide operational support as needed.
  • Laboratory experience or logistic in life sciences or Pharma industry preferred
  • Must be able to lift 25 kg or more
  • Experience with, or knowledge of, Safety and Biosafety / Experience or knowledge of building technical utilities (e.g., electrical, sanitary, ventilation) / Experience or knowledge of safety rules (e.g., chemicals storage, BSL2, gases storage, etc...)
  • Moderate written and strong verbal communication skills. Proficient at writing well-formulated emails and notifications. Ability to effectively communicate with employees, contractors, and vendors
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite – Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, and the aptitude to learn new software
  • Ability to organize assigned tasks in a high paced environment and concurrently monitor tasks / assignments with others that may impact timely completion / Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and activities simultaneously
  • Excellent organizational abilities and a high attention to detail / Excellent organizational abilities, high attention to detail, and a demonstrated ability to execute small projects independently
